Ventral corticospinal tract - definition
aka the anterior corticospinal tract. The ventral corticospinal tract contains about 10% of the fibers that travel in the corticospinal tract. Fibers that travel in the ventral corticospinal tract do not decussate in the pyramidal decussation and instead continue down to the spinal cord on the ipsilateral side of the brainstem from where they originated. The ventral corticospinal tract is involved in controlling proximal muscles, like those of the trunk.
