Transcranial magnetic stimulation - definition

noninvasive method of influencing brain activity that involves the use of electromagnetic pulses to make neurons more or less likely to fire. Because it allows for somewhat targeted facilitation of neural activity, it can be used to diagnose the functionality of some neural connections. There are indications it may have therapeutic uses, for example in the treatment of depression.
