Internal capsule - definition

a large bundle of fibers that is responsible for carrying almost all of the information that travels to and from the cerebral cortex. The internal capsule extends from the cortex to the spinal cord, traveling past and receiving information from variety of subcortical structures, brainstem nuclei, and a number of other sites along the way.
