clear fluid found surrounding the brain and spinal cord (and in the ventricles of the brain). Cerebrospinal fluid acts as a cushion to protect the brain and spinal cord from damage, is involved in regulating blood flow, and helps to protect the nervous system from toxins and foreign particles.
