Pedunculopontine nucleus - definition

the pedunculopontine nucleus is found in the brainstem and is one of the primary nuclei for acetylcholine production in the brain. The pedunculopontine nucleus projects to the basal ganglia and is thought to be involved in movement; it also is part of the reticular activating system and thus is important to arousal and attention.
